Cuttings Box Recovery
On August 29, 2005, Tiger lost a 25BBL Cuttings Box (#12352) during Hurricane Katrina, one of the most powerful and destructive tropical storms to ever hit the Gulf Coast. The unit was onsite at the Baker Drilling Fluid dock in Venice, Louisiana and was rented to Brandt-Varco for use on the Hercules 21 jackup rig working for Chevron in the Gulf of Mexico when the CAT5 catastrophic storm made landfall.
16 YEARS LATER…
The unit was recovered on December 11, 2021 by Weeks Marine while dredging for construction of the Spanish Pass Marsh Creation Project. Tiger took possession of the cuttings box and refurbished the unit to be placed back into service as part of our best-in-class rental fleet.
Pitting repairs had to be made throughout the box. Both lids and mounting hardware had to be replaced along with the entire base. The Port Fourchon team did an excellent job in the restoration process, and we are proud to say you cannot point it out amongst our cuttings box fleet.
When we say our equipment is built tough for offshore terrain, we mean it!
