Port Fourchon is Louisiana’s southernmost oil and gas port, located on the southern tip of Lafourche Parish, on the Gulf of America (GoA). It is a seaport, with substantial petroleum business from offshore oil platforms and drilling rigs. The primary markets in the city are deepwater oil and gas exploration, drilling, and production in the GoA. Port Fourchon currently services over 90% of the Gulf of America’s deepwater oil production. Incidentally, there are over 600 oil platforms within a 40-mile radius of Port Fourchon. The region supplies 18+/- percent of the US oil supply.
